Baskaran Kannan

Baskaran Kanna is a biological scientist at the University of Florida. Baskaran's research focuses on the genetic improvement of energycane and sugarcane for biofuel production. For the ROGUE project, he will be working towards suppression of flowering in energycane by genetic transformation and genome editing. Baskaran received his bachelor's degree in agriculture and his master's degree in plant breeding and genetics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in India. He went on to earn his doctorate in plant breeding and genetics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in India and the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) also in India. His work is published in many peer-reviewed journals, including Plant Biotechnology Journal, Scientific Reports, and Plant Molecular Biology.
