Deepak Kumar

Deepak Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Paper and Bioprocess Engineering at State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF); he is also a research scientist at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois. His research is focused on the process optimization and sustainability analysis of the production of biofuel and biomaterials using combined experimental and modeling approaches. For the ROGUE project, he will perform a techno-economic analysis of jet biofuel production by developing comprehensive process models to estimate energy use and production cost.

Kumar received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the Punjab Agricultural University at Ludhiana, India, and his master’s degree in agricultural engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur, India. He went on to earn his doctorate in biological and ecological engineering from Oregon State University. He has received several awards, including the Bioenergy Society of Singapore (BESS) Achievement Award 2016.
